SUN 26th

U16 Premier League

Greenwood 1 Cobh Ramblers 7

Cobh Ramblers were in seventh heaven at Togher in this Under 16 fixture on Sunday morning. Playing on the front foot from the start Ramblers had the home defence under constant pressure and were rewarded with a goal in the first few minutes when Daniel Santry headed home from a great cross from Man of the Match Ian Murphy. Murphy himself was on target shortly afterwards when another ‘cross’ went all the way and caught out the Greenwood keeper as it flew over his head into the goal. Cillian Tallon then got in on the act, shooting into the corner with a low drive.

Greenwood gave themselves a glimmer of hope when a mix-up in the Ramblers defence resulted in a soft goal for the home team. Ramblers were quickly back on track when Tallon scored his second with another low shot to the corner. Brendán Frahill scored the fifth with a header to leave the score 5-1 at the break.

The second half was more of the same as Ramblers added two more goals from Dave Cahill and Paul Ronan. Several more chances were created during the half with Murphy and David Curran excelling in the middle of the park. This result keeps the Ramblers team well up in the hunt for the Premier League title.

U12 Premier League

Mallow United 2 Springfield Ramblers 2

Springfield Ramblers dominated this game away to last season’s champions Mallow United. With superb performances from Niall Abbott, Adam O’Sullivan and Sean Hilliard, Ramblers maintained their unbeaten start to the season. The goals were scored by Adam Horgan.

U14 Premier League

Springfield Ramblers   Castleview

Under 11 Division 6

Carrigaline United B 3 Springfield Ramblers A 6

This was a great result for Springfield Ramblers away to table toppers Carragaline. A great start saw Ramblers race in to a two goal lead but Carragaline fought back to level the scores midway through the first half. The rest of the half was evenly fought as the teams were level 3-3 at the break.

The second half was all Springfield as a combination of great defending and swift counter attacking saw a return of three more goals. Scorers on the day were Ciaran O’Reilly, Dean Moran, Jack McCarthy and a great hat-trick from Peter Dennis. This was a great effort from each and every one of the players.

Under 11 Division 7

Springfield Ramblers B 0 Mayfield United B 3

U14 Premier League

Springfield Ramblers 2 Castleview 1

This win was the result of a great team performance inspired by two great goals from John Kennedy and Sean McLoughlin. Goalkeeper Cathal O’Hanlon chipped in with two top class saves and brilliant defending from Dean Keating & Kevin Fitzgerald kept Castleview at bay. The pinpoint passing and control of James Stoat in midfield had Castleview on the back foot for the whole game. The teamwork from this performance keeps the team on top of the league table.
