Fianna Fáil TD for Cork North Central Padraig O’Sullivan has welcomed funding of over €127,000 in Covid-19 supports for community and voluntary groups in Cork.

Deputy O’Sullivan commented “The funding, under the COVID-19 Emergency Fund, is in recognition of the important role played by community and voluntary organisations across the country as we head towards the Christmas period. The funding will enable groups to embrace the Government’s ‘Keep Well’ campaign which focusses on the themes of staying connected, switching off and being creative, and minding your mood.

“This Cork funding is a part of a national funding project of €1.7m just announced and it brings the total funding provided under the COVID-19 Emergency Fund to €4.2 million in 2020.

“The funding will be used to assist local community and voluntary groups to adapt to Covid-19, for example, to allow them to make changes to premises to provide for social distancing, funding for on-line activities and the provision of critical social supports.

“This year has brought the best out in communities across the country, especially in Cork. Voluntary Groups have provided much support and assistance to many across Cork. This work does not go unnoticed and is most appreciated. I know these groups will make every cent of this funding count. I want to thank these community and voluntary groups for all of the hard work and dedication this year” concluded Deputy O’Sullivan.
