Cobh4Football in partnership with the 4 soccer clubs in the town are delighted to announce further details on the proposed new development at Old Church Park, home of Cobh Wanderer’s AFC.
The proposed design for the facility, as can been seen in the accompanying photograph, is now completed. Comprising of a brand new floodlit artificial surface and new natural grass surface the new facility has the potential to be a much-needed addition to the footballing facilities in the town.
We would like to sincerely thank Caltech (www.caltech.ie) for sponsoring the commissioning of the 3D CGI photograph.
Given the current pandemic, the need for additional adequate facilities in the town has never been greater. Adequate time spacing between training groups has meant further reduced available hours for teams. This has meant all clubs have had to look at alternative training locations.
The new facility will cost €650,000, which all will agree is a huge sum of money. €550,000 of this money will come from the Stephen Ireland Fund, Sports Capital Grant, Local Council Grant, and fantastic club support.
