Get the season off on the right note with Cappella Lyrica on Sunday 1st December at Fota House. Immerse yourself in the beautiful sounds of this award winning choir in the resplendent surrounds of the magnificent Drawing Room.
Our annual Christmas music celebration will include seasonal favourites by Daniel Elder, Stephen Hatfield, Morten Lauridsen, Michael McGlynn and John Rutter and feature Britten’s Ceremony of Carols with Harpist, Anne-Marie Papin Labazordiere This is a concert for music lovers of all ages!
Cappella Lyrica is an equal-voice choir comprised of full-time students of the CIT Cork School of Music. Formed in 2011, the choir regularly perform new music and have commissioned composers, David Wallace, Marion Ingoldsby and Sean Doherty, to write for the choir. They have also collaborated with Crash Ensemble to give the first performance of Out Into by Emily Hall at the Sounds of a Safe Harbour Festival in Cork in 2016 with a second performance in Clonmel at the Finding a Voice festival on International Women’s Day 2017.
In competitive performances the choir has been awarded First Prize at the Cork International Choral Festival, the City of Derry International Choral Festival and at the Limerick Church Music Festival.
