Renowned Cork artist launching bespoke Christmas Card collection for Cancer Research

Renowned textile artist, Fiona Turley, will launch her bespoke 2019 Christmas Cards on Sunday, November 10th at Gallery Crafts in Kilworth, with 100% of the proceeds funding research in the treatment and prevention of cancer.

For 15 years, Fiona has created and donated the festive designs to Cork based charity, Breakthrough Cancer Research, raising funds for ground breaking research to develop new treatments for cancer.

She hopes to raise more than ever this year and invites everyone to join her at Gallery Crafts for the launch of the Fiona Turley Christmas Cards Collection between 3 and 6pm, with the official launch at 4pm, on Sunday 10th November 2019.

The launch promises to be an enjoyable, festive evening to kick off the Christmas season. Elizabeth Cooke, owner of the Café, “Cooke’s at the Gallery” will be making delicious mini mince pies with wine to get us into the Christmas spirit for the occasion. Both the shop and the café will open from 1pm until 6pm on Sunday.

Gallery Crafts, owned by Fiona, is located in the picturesque village of Kilworth in north Cork. Opened in 2000, the store offers an eclectic mix of gifts and crafts, produced by national and international designers and makers. Get into the festive spirit and enjoy the wonderful creations from Irish & international designers, plus festive decorations, candles and much more.

Speaking about the event, Fiona said, “I have been designing Christmas Cards for Breakthrough Cancer Research for many years and am so proud to be associated with their amazing research.  We have all been affected by cancer; it is an emotional subject for many so I hope that through your support of the cards, we will in a small way contribute to help finding new ways to treat cancer.

“I personally wish the team great success in their work and I thank them for inviting me to be part of their fundraising efforts. I hope many people will send a card to someone they love this Christmas and we can spread a message of hope. Christmas is such a time of giving and joy and I am thrilled to give my designs to help this amazing cause.”

Breakthrough Cancer Research is leading the way with research into cancers with poor prognosis, having already progressed seven treatments from the laboratory to clinical trial. The research organisation works closely with multiple hospitals in Cork to ensure their research is responding to the unmet needs of patients with cancers that do not respond to conventional therapies.

Each pack contains a selection of 10 cards each with a unique design at a cost of €10.
