In Carrigtwohill, Fota House will host a tour which will take people on a tour through time, with the re-telling of the stories of the people who lived there: resident carillonneur, Adrian Gebruers, will give a recital on St Colman’s Cathedral’s Bells in Cobh, The Sirius Arts Centre will host two exhibitions and The Cobh Band will play a programme of popular airs in the Town Centre. There will be an Irish Dance Performance in the Parish Hall in Youghal, an Exhibition featuring artists from the Shanagarry Art Group in the Community Centre on Main Street in Midleton, tours of the Clock Gate Tower, also in Youghal, and  A History of the Witch of Youghal, Florence Newton, in the Rivergate Mall. Kay’s Flowers will host an evening of nostalgia and music with a ‘nice cup of tea’ thrown in and also in Youghal, Tynte’s Castle will host Youghal’s Little Theatre who will present a cultural voyage in poetry and song. This is just a taster of the programme being mounted in East Cork,  full details are on culturenightcorkcounty.ie

Aside from being a fantastic event, Culture Night can have a lasting impact on communities. Culture Night helps create a sense of community and belonging while providing opportunities for networking between local organisations, groups, and artists.
