Ballymaloe Grainstore, Shanagarry, Co. Cork – Saturday 29 December, 8pm
East Cork Choral Society celebrates its 40th anniversary with a soaring performance of Handel’s Messiah and its powerful Hallelujah Chorus in Ballymaloe Grainstore on Saturday 29 December at 8pm. They will dedicate the performance to the memory of the late Mrs. Myrtle Allen.
Perhaps the greatest and best-known work in the oratorio repertoire, Handel’s Messiah is a classic Christmas concert. It will be a wonderful ‘Twixmas’ night out for all the family in the acoustically superb Ballymaloe Grainstore.
The East Cork Choral Society’s fifty singers will be accompanied by eight professional players from the East Cork Orchestra and four talented young soloists.
Colin Nicholls, who has led the Choral Society since 1984, will conduct, while Eithne Willis leads the East Cork Orchestra.
Soloists are Gemma Magner [soprano], Sarah Lutterall [alto], Ciaran Fennel [tenor], and Michael Krauss [bass].
Ballymaloe Grainstore is on the grounds of Ballymaloe House in Shanagarry, Co. Cork. Tickets for Handel’s Messiah are €25. Book online on www.ballymaloegrainstore.com or by phone on 021 475 7200
