Recently, the Board of Directors of Cobh Credit Union invited Bishop William Crean and Fr. John McCarthy to their newly refurbished Boardroom to present them with a cheque for €10,000.00 for the Organ Restoration fund.
The cheque was presented by Marita Foster (Director) on behalf of the Credit Union. The Bishop graciously accepted the cheque on behalf of the restoration fund and gave an update on the project to date. He also paid tribute to the dedication and hard work of all the committee in getting the project to this stage. Before his departure the Bishop blessed the new Boardroom and wished the Board of Directors and the Credit Union continued success and acknowledged the Credit Union for its continued commitment to the community.
On the same evening the friends of Cobh Hospital were also presented with a cheque for €10,000.00. The Chairman of Cobh Credit Union Colman Rasmussen presented the cheque to Dr. Peter Morehan (Chairman of the Friends of Cobh Hospital). In his speech Colman praised the Hospital for the outstanding work and commitment to the people of Cobh. He also said that nearly everyone in Cobh knew, or was related to someone who has, or had in the past been cared for by the staff of the Hospital. Dr Morehan thanked the Chairman and the Credit Union for their continued support which he said was vital to future viability of the Hospital.
