Historic Three in a Row for Cobh Camogie

Published

on

The Cobh Junior Camogie team won a third successive county league title recently in Castle Road. After a successful league campaign Cobh faced a very strong Charleville side in the semi-final only three days earlier. Cobh went into the Charleville game as underdogs but gave an exceptional performance to book their place in the final against Castlelyons. Castlelyons were strong favourites to win the title after a comprehensive win in the semi-final against Sars but the Cobh girls were determined to bring the title back to Cobh. With some superb defending and sharp shooting Cobh went in at half time leading 4-4 to 1-4. However, with a strong wind to their backs in the second half Castlelyons pushed forward and it was clear this game would go down to the wire. But Cobh put on a super display and ended up winning on a score line of 4-7 to 2-11. Pauline Edmonds received the cup on behalf of the Cobh team in front of a large Cobh support. The team now continue their training in preparation for the championship in July. Good luck also to the Junior C team who take to the field on Friday June 2nd to contest the Junior C semi-final hoping to bring another title to Cobh.
