Cobh Tidy Towns Pride of Place Bursary
Over the years Cobh Tidy Towns, with the generous support of Cobh Credit Union, has hosted the Tidy Districts and latterly Pride of Place Competition to recognise the efforts made by individuals and residential areas in helping Cobh go from strength to strength in the National Tidy Towns Awards. Improvements made throughout Cobh have undoubtedly added to the town’s achievement of winning our first Gold Medal. The sense of civic pride and spirit of co-operation is palpable around Cobh.
Residential areas have benefitted through their participation in the local competition through the formation of Residents Associations, establishment of regular clean ups and area improvements through prizes awarded.
In 2016 , Cobh Credit Union, the largest community based business organisation in Cobh, continues to kindly support our community initiative. This year we introduce the “Cobh Pride of Place Bursary”. We are seeking proposals from residential areas/streets/estates for area enhancement projects which require funding to progress. Ideas such as new perennial flower and shrub displays at entrances, new name signs and other once off projects will be considered. Operating and on-going expenditure will not be eligible for funding.
Please submit a detailed description of your idea along with the location of the planned project and an estimate of cost along with contact details.
It is envisaged that projects will not be 100% funded by this scheme, but voluntary labour and involvement of residents will be highly rated in choosing which projects are successful in receiving a bursary towards the cost. The project must be completed by 30th September 2016 and closing date for applications is 30th June 2016. Please forward your entries or any queries to cobhtidytowns@gmail.com
