Cobh Camogie News
Cobh Camogie Minor team commenced their 2016 County League with a comfortable home win against Bride Rovers in Cobh on 13th March. Bride Rovers started well and had 2 early points before Cobh responded with a point from play. Cobh’s defence with Sorcha McKeown controlling the centre were now in control and this laid the foundation for constant pressure on the Rovers defence. Cobh took the lead when Orla Damery gained possession at full forward turned her marker and crashed home a great goal.
This goal was followed by a second goal from Damery and with Bride Rovers losing their full back due to injury the result was never in doubt thereafter. Further scores from Megan Foley, Aoife O Connor, Rebecca Crotty and Toni Butler left Cobh leading at Half time 3 -4 V 0-3.
Cobh continued where they left off in the second half but now playing with more confidence, their support play and passing improved which lead to some great scores from Katelynn Quinlann, Kate Maher and the impressive Orla Damery who completed her hat-trick. Cobh ran out deserving winners but will have stiffer tests ahead.
