GAA_EmblemJunior Hurlers into Quarter final of East Cork A Championship

Cobh went into this first round championship game against Bride Rovers quietly confident although with a number of injuries to a few key player. Conditions were perfect for the game which took place in Lisgoold Tuesday last. The game started with Bride Rovers keeping ahead of Cobh for the first ten minutes seeing Cobh trail by three points. Cobh pulled back a goal after twelve minutes when a shot from Conor Farrell for a point dropped short and into the goal the scoreboard now showing 1-04 to Bride Rovers 0-05. The teams exchanged points for the next few minutes before Cobh began to pull away. At the interval Cobh were well in control with a six point lead Cobh 1-09 Bride Rovers 0-06. The second half was a different story with Cobh only scoring five points. Midway through the second half Aidan O’Rourke was shown a red card for a altercation with his man. It was a sweat finish for Cobh after this as Bride Rovers came close to drawing level as the final whistle was blown. Final score Cobh 1-14 Bride Rovers 1-13. Cobh now go through to the quarter final later in July.
