Cllr Cathal Rasmussen is delighted to announce that, following his recent representations, Cork County Council today confirmed that the OPW have allocated €80,000 to allow works to be commenced on the flood protection at Belvelly.
”Detailed planning with engineers from the OPW will proceed. This is an important step in the process for the long suffering residents of Belvelly and Cobh. While a lot of work still needs to be done, this is the first positive news we’ve received on solving this problem.
”This is a very important issue, as severe floods can mean that the whole Great Island of Cobh will be inaccessible, even for emergency services. I will continue to highlight and work on this much needed project for Cobh until we get the right result.”
