Cobh GAA Notes: 27th March

Membershipis now over due for 2010. Those who have not paid their sub to date should do so asap. Membership can be paid to Brendan Kearney, Damien Byrne or Pat Looney or placed in the membership box in the bar of the club pavillion.U10 Footballers Light up Pairc Ui Rinn: On March 20th the Cobh U10 footballers played an exhibition game under lights at half-time of the Cork v Dublin senior football league game. THe boys performed really well and received a great reception from the big crowd of Cork supporters at the game.

Results: U12FL: On Wed 24th, our u12 footballers kicked off their East Cork league campaign away to Killeagh. This fixture was re-scheduled from the previous Monday due to a bereavement in the Killeagh club. The Killeagh team started the more aggressively which saw them going into the half time break leading by four points. The second half saw our guys approach the game differently, matching the opponents pound for pound, and playing a nice brand of football. Cobh whittled down the lead and hit the front by a point approaching the end but Killeagh goaled just before the end to win the day on a scoreline of 3-05 to 3-02.  In the Sciath na Scoil hurling competition, Scoil Iosaef Naofa recorded a fine victory on Monday afternoon against St. Anthony’s of Ballinlough on a score of 4-02 to 3-02. Well done to all involved.

Fixtures:  JFC’ship v Lisgoold in Carrigtohill at 3pm Sun 28th. Also on Sunday morning, u12 camogie v Sars at 11:30am in Cobh, and  U10 Decky Gukian hurling league at 11:30am away to Glen Rvrs. Mon 29th, U12FL v St. Catherine’s in Cobh at 6:45pm. Sat 3rd April, IHL home to Aghabullogue at 2:30pm and  MFL away to Russell Rvrs at 6:45pm. Tues 6th April in Cobh J’B’HL v Cloyne at 7pm.
