In order to raise funds for Our Ladies Childrens Hospital Crumlin St and Childrens Leukaemia Ward Mercy Hospital we, in Cobh Pirates, have organised a match between the Munster Junior team and an invitational team. Confirmed players are, Anthony Horgan, Brian O Meara, Dave Corkery, and Diarmuid O Sullivan to name but a few. The team will also have some Cobh Pirates players. We are awaiting confirmation from other players. There will also be a few Munster academy players and Frankie Sheehan will be in attendance along with other Munster players. The Munster Juniors will have a full team out as they start their inter-provincial campaign the following week. They are coached by cobh man and former Pirates club coach Ian Dunne.
The day will start at 15.30 with an under 12 game followed by the main event. At half time there will be an under 6 tag game. The game will start at 16.30.Vast media coverage prior to the event is expected via the offical Munster web site, papers and radio coverage and it has received the full support and backing of the Munster Rugby. Should it become the precieved success taht we feel it will be it is to become an annual event.
There will also be a bbq on the day with all gate and bbq proceeds going to the charities.
Admission to the game is €10, payable on the gate or by purchasing a ticket that will be available by the end of the week.
