Under 15 National Cup
Springfield Ramblers 1 Evergreen (Kilkenny) 0
Springfield Ramblers continued their impressive run in the Under 15 National Cup with this victory over Kilkenny side Evergreen at Pat O’Brien Park. In a very tight game where both defences were very hard to break down the deadlock was broken by a brilliant delivery from a free kick from the right by Dave Curran which went straight into the Evergreen net. The goal came after Springfield Ramblers had settled down in a game in which Evergreen had started very well playing good football, threatening the Springfield Ramblers defence. But as the home side settled to the task they began to control the game with Marc Wyatt marshalling the defensive line in which Brendán Frahill, Adam Thompson and Paul Ronan excelled. As the confidence grew the team continued to have the better of the play and the Kilkenny side were unable to gain enough possession to threaten the Springfield Ramblers goal.
The second half continued in the same vein with the midfield pairing of Jason Abbott and Tony O’Donovan controlling the middle of the park and wide men Dave Curran and Gavin Lynch working hard on the wings to keep the pressure on the visitor’s back four. The frontline pair Daniel Santry and Dave Cahill worked tirelessly to pressurise the Evergreen back line and provide an outlet for clearances from the Springfield Ramblers defence. As the second half progressed the visitors began to enjoy more possession but the safe hands of Shane Hallahan dealt with every cross and shot that was fired in at his goal. The Springfield Ramblers side have now progressed to the last 16 of the competition and now face an away trip to Dublin side Belvedere in the next round.
The club would like to thank the Evergreen team for making the journey from Kilkenny and for the sporting way in which they approached the game. Thanks also to Mandy for making the sandwiches and to Julie for making the tea.

Rockmount 1 Springfield Ramblers 2
This was a great away win for the U8’s who went 1 nil down against the run of play heading into the last 15 minutes. After this the team put in a strong performance to score 2 fine goals. They could have won this game by more only for some great saves made by the Rockmount keeper. Well done to all!
