Cobh GAA – Street Leagues 2011 – Week 3
Round three of this year’s Cobh Credit Union sponsored Street Leagues unfortunately saw a return to “miserable” weather on Friday night last when the U-12 boys & girls took to the hurling field to contest the sliotar for their 40 minutes of gametime. Despite the foggy, wet & breezy conditions, the teams managed to produce a total of 37 goals & 16 points over the match programme, proving that not even non ideal hurling conditions will subdue their efforts to perform. Although points were earned & dropped this week it produced no change in the order of the tables.
In contrast to Friday night, it was nothing short of a “glorious” Sunday morning that greeted the U-7 & U-9 age groups as they entered the field for their third round matches. With “industrious” effort the U-7’s cleared the dew from the grass as the sliotar found itself hotly pursued over every inch of the field to produce three close & enjoyable games.
Equally, the U-9’s closed out the morning’s programme with some finely contested matches which saw each of the teams in the lower half of the tables last week win their respective games this week.
Our thanks to all the families & friends who come out in great numbers to support the children no matter what the weather and our appreciation also to the match referees & club members who assist in preparing the fields of play over each weekend.
Reminder: Please be in attendance at least 15 minutes prior to your match start time
