Dreams Do Come True
Another honour bestowed our town recently as local soccer player Jason Abbott was selected to play with the Irish U17 soccer team in England last week.
On Tuesday last they played Leicester FC which ended in a 2-2 draw and on Thursday played Wolverhampton Wanderers FC winning 6-0. Jason had the honour of being captain of the team which caps a great season for the player after he was also part of the Springfield Ramblers u16 team who won this yea’rs National Cup 1-0 against highly fancied Belveldere where he scored the winner. Another addition to his ever growing list of achievements is that he also captained this year’s Cork U16 team, winning Munster and All Ireland finals.
Well done also to Brendan Frahill, Adam Thompson, Shane Hallahan, Daniel Santry and Jason, all part of the U16 soccer team that have played with the Ramblers senior side in this years A Championship. Such achievements at this level demonstrate the tremendous work put in by all the coaches at the Springfield Ramblers football club.
