Tue. 16th Aug. U16 H C’ship. Final Cobh v Russell Rovers at Castlemartyr 7pm

Wed 17th Aug U21H C’ship Cobh v St. Catherine’s at Castlemartyr at 6:45pm.

Results: Minor H C’ship. Cobh 1-12 Cloyne 4-9

U 13 H C’ship. Cobh 5-11   Erins Own 4-04 . The U13s gave a very spirited performance against Erin’s Own in the first round of the hurling championship. Fielding minus several of their first team players due to holidays the responsibility was on the likes of Christian Field, David Coffey, Pádi Kearney, Niall Spriggs and Adam O’Donovan to perform, and the lads didn’t disappoint. Cobh were well on top in the first half with Niall Spriggs finishing many of their attacking moves with goals and points from play. Dan Sheehan and Keith Donnachie made a big contribution to creating the scores from their half-forward berths while the inside line of Edward Lane, George Keating and Ryan Hickey also worked hard for the Cobh cause. One of the highlights of the game was the stick work of Ciarán Leahy who twice robbed his opponents while they were in the act of striking.

Cobh turned around well in front for the second half but Erin’s Own came back strongly scoring two goals before David Coffey imposed himself on the proceedings with his strong defending ably assisted by Geoff McCarthy, Conor Hogan, Odhran Kidney-Power and Aaron Dolan. Well done to Jack O’Donovan, Eoin Meaney and Diarmuid Kearney from the younger juvenile teams who turned out to fill in on the bench for the missing players.  Overall this was a good win from an under strength Cobh team with the most pleasing aspect being the impressive style of attacking hurling on display. Best of luck to the lads in the next round.
