July At Rushbrooke Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club
The month of July promises to be a very busy month for Rushbrooke Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. Four top class tournaments are scheduled to be played throughout the month and preparation is now well underway.
The first big tournament is the FDC sponsored Open Championships of Co. Cork which runs from July 9th to July 16th and sees the top senior ranked players from Cork, Munster and players from around the rest of Ireland competing in this tournament.
This is normally one of the biggest events staged outside of Dublin and hopefully this year will again be a major attraction to all players. After the senior open the Summer Junior Irish Closed Championships of Ireland takes place 17th July-23rd July and again brings the best junior players from around the country to play during this week long event. Following on from this Rushbrooke hosts two international events on 30th July- 5th August with the Boys and Girls UN14 European Tennis Association and the UN18International Tennis Federation playing for ranking points in each section. These two events bring a standard of junior tennis to Rushbrooke that all sports enthusiasts should come along and see.
It is a fantastic opportunity for the people of Cobh, Cork and surrounding areas to witness the up and coming players of the European and World stage. Each year these events attract players from Ireland, England, Italy, Spain Germany,Poland, USA and many more besides so it’s a real International occasion during this week. All of the above events are free of charge for spectators and people are most welcome to come along throughout the events and experience the atmosphere in the splendid setting that Rushbrooke Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club provides.
