Special Olympians Play Fota Golf Course
Special Olympic golfers played on the former Irish Open course at Fota Island golf course last week. There was great excitement all round and fantastic skills on display when 127 golfers took part in the Special Olympic Munster Regional Golf Compition. A nine and an eighteen hole competition were held and amongst those taking part were Team Ireland. Special Olympic athletes who will represent Ireland at the 2011 World Special Olympic Summer Games in Athens later this month are Mr Garry Flemming ( Cork Special Olympic Golf Club ) Mr Michael O Leary ( Kerry Fairways Special Olympic Golf Club, Kenmare Co Kerry ). Frank O’Brien from Cobh, will be assisting the athletes as a volunteer in Athens for the games.
