GAA President visits Cobh blitz
Uachtarain Cumann Luthcleas Gael Christy Cooney paid a visit to a sun drenched Pairc Ui Conaill on Monday last as part of the upcoming Feile Peil 2011 celebrations. The occasion was marked by a football blitz with teams from the town’s National Schools taking part. The girls from Rushbrooke NS along with St Marys and Gaelscoil Ui Eigheartaigh made up one section, with Naomh Iosaef, Rushbrooke and An Gaelscoil participating in the boys section. Our thanks to the teachers of all the schools for their help. Christy Cooney presented each School with a training kit compliments of O’Neill Sportswear who along with Bus Eireann are the joint sponsors of the Feile Peil 2011which is to held in Cork at the end of June.
Cobh is both a host and a venue for one section of the competition. The u14 football teams from Hertfordshire, Wolfe tones (Shannon) and Bride Rovers of Cork will play their games in Cobh on 30th and 31st June with the Finals of all 6 sections taking place in Cork on Sat 2nd of July. Families in Cobh are providing accommodation for Hertfordshire for the trip. Twenty six players along with their mentors will stay with the families of the Cobh team which promises to be a great experience for all concerned.
