“Cobh Golf Club supports St. Mary’s School, Rochestown

Frank Jones, Captain 2011 of Cobh Golf Club, Ger Curley, Captain 2010 of CGC, Mary Conroy, principal of St Mary's.
Each year, Cobh Golf Club chooses three charitable organisations, which are receiving financial contributions by the Club. The Men’s Section of the Golf Club chose St. Mary’s School in Rochestown this year. A 3-ball competition was held on Friday, 29 April in aid of St Mary’s. Friday evening, helped by income from the competition and further funds provided by the Club, a cheque of €2,000 was presented to Mary Conroy, the Principal of the school. A great Day of Golf, Music provided by the Frahills, and a Good Cause all combined and made for great atmosphere in Jack Doyle’s in the evening!
St. Mary’s School in Rochestown is dedicated to teach and support children from 4 to 18 years with mild learning disabilities. St Mary’s teachers are experienced and dedicated, and include Special Needs Assistants. They are trained in Multi-Disciplinary Support and Physiotherapy, Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Social Work. The School is committed to create a “happy learning atmosphere” and teachers are making use of Art, Sport, Music and Social, Personal and Health Education, to help children learn at their own pace, and develop self-expression and self-confidence. Over 50 children are currently enroled in the school, and five are from Cobh. St Mary’s can be contacted on 021-489 1431. Information can also be found on their website http://stmarysrochestown.com
