A good set of results for the Club last weekend with two 1-0 wins away from home. On Sat the Div 6 team travelled to Garryduff to take on Church of Ireland. It was a young side that Cobh took on and Cobh’s experience told when they put the pressure on from the start. After several near misses Claire Stack put them ahead when she collected a ball in the circle and put a high ball in past the C of I goalie. Cobh should have put the game beyond doubt in the first half and in the second half even more pressure saw them hit the post on a couple of occasions and also see the ball just go wide. C of I to their credit never gave up for the equaliser and Tara Mansworth in a player of the game performance was instrumental in keeping them out to give the three points to Cobh.
The Div 4 team travelled to Fermoy on Sunday short 5 regular players. In a must win game to keep their league hopes alive the team struggled initially to get on top of Fermoy. The Fermoy goalie was in great form and kept out all attacks and the Fermoy forwards forced a couple of good saves from Cobh also. Cobh upped the pressure in the second half and in the first five minutes a great run by Noelle Hally saw the ball come to Emma Mackey and when she forced the goalie to commit to a save the ball fell to Aoife Hart who put it in the net. Despite some lovely attacks by Cobh they could not score again but they took the full three points in what was a gutsy performance.

Div 4: Sat 12/3/11 Church of Ireland v Cobh, 10am ,Garryduff
Div 6: Sat 12/3/11 Fermoy v Cobh, 11.15am, Loreto Convent, Fermoy
