A great day last Sunday when Cobh won the Div 6 Plate Final against Limerick on a 2-0 scoreline. It was a great game of hockey with both teams putting in fine performances. Overall Cobh had the best of the first half with some great chances from Lisa Harris and Sarah Crone. Not to be outdone Goalie Jessica Stack pulled off some great saves at the other end to keep Limerick out. However despite the trojan work by Chelsea Crone and Caroline Green in midfield and Cathy Renehan at centre back the game remained scoreless at half time.
The second half saw Limerick come more into the game and they had some nice breaks into the Cobh half. Cobh came back into it and they had one off the post and some some shots that went narrowly wide. With about 8 mins remaining however Aoife Hart who was just on the pitch put one away much to the delight of the Cobh support. Limerick upped the tempo again but Chelsea Crone, in a player of the game performance, hit home a great shot from the edge of the circle to put it beyond doubt.
Munster President Pat Sargent presented the Div 6 Plate to Capt Caroline Green and also thanked Umpires John Dennis and Catriona Hassey for their input.
Team: Jessica Stack, Barbara O’Keeffe, Tara Mansworth, Cathy Renehan, Susan McGrath, Caroline Green, Debbie Keilthy, Chelsea Crone, Claire Stack, Lisa Harris, Sarah Crone, Sonia Brady, Aoife Hart, Aoife Richardson, Mari Moynihan, Trish Curtin
