Pirates had mixed fortunes last weekend – with the local derbies at all 3 age grades.
Midleton ran out convincing winners in the early games at Towns Park, beating Cobh Pirates at both U13 and U15 with plenty to spare.
Great credit to the Cobh lads who fronted up well and never gave up to the final whistle. The 15s have an opportunity to get back on track this weekend with Sunday’s Well visiting the Paddocks.
The 13s are a new age group and considering the big step up for alot of the guys from mini rugby last year; they are competing well and will improve as the season rolls on.
However, the last game of the day, was back in the Paddocks, where what appeared a confident looking Midleton team took the field only to find themselves on the back foot for 80 minutes.
Pirates were dominant and cut-throat for the full game and notched themselves a bonus point win 7 tries from John Cotter(2), Mark Dunphy(2), Noel O’Donovan (2) and Dennis Kinnevane, with Greg Higgins adding 5 conversions and one penalty.
Great result for the Pirates’ !
