U13 League
Pirates’ started their u13 league campaign away to Youghal last Saturday, with a resounding win with four tries to one. This age group are now under the tutorship of Julian Kahn and Ken Gill, with the hard work put in over the recent weeks paying off on their first outing. Gearoid Lynch, Eoghan O’Flynn, Dwayne O’Leary and Mark Lynch all crossed the white wash with Alan Plummer adding a conversion. The final score was 22-7 to Pirates.

U15 Team v Charleville

U15 League
After a great win over Crosshaven in a friendly game the week before, the u15’s carried this good form into their away game in North Cork to Charleville. Stephen Hickey put in a magnificent performance and capped off his great form of late to score 2 tries. Shane Cullinane, Chris Lynch and Anthony Devlin-Buckley also touched down. The game creaked both ways, and the guys showed great resilience to overcome a vocal home support  to come from behind in the final phases of the game to snatch a great win. Adam Devlin added a conversion to leave the score 27-24 to Pirates.

U17 Friendly.

The 17s played a friendly under lights last Friday night away to Fermoy. The game was a bit tempestuous at times, with many of the decisions from the local referee frustrating  and leaving the game a very stop/start affair. With the bias at all times with the home team; Pirates’ did well to match them on the scoreboard. Jason Butler opened the account to leave the half time score 5-5. Rob Brown added another, and with the home side leading 15-10 going into injury time, it was only fair and just on the night that Jason Butler darted over to get a draw, 15-15 final score. In what would have been a great comeback against all adversity…Luke O’Neill shaved the upright on the conversion to deny Pirates the victory.

U11
Pirates travelled to Youghal to play out an entertaining game in sun drenched Frogmore last Saturday. They led 3 tries to 2 at half time, but on the turnaround, Youghal upped the ante and put Pirates under a lot fo pressure and eventually ran out winners by 5 tries to 4. All players put in a great performance with Jack O’Donovan, Thro Ban and Jim Keavney playing well.

U10
Pirates’ played Youghal in two games at this level…the first particularly a tough game against a physically bigger Youghal team. With both teams level entering the final minutes, Pirates emerged victorious thanks to a wonderful solo try by Bobby Kahn in the last play of the game. Other players who excelled were Leo Daly, Sam Bourke and Ray Keating. In the 2nd game , Pirates were not so fortunate, and Youghal ran out winners, this team was mainly made up of boys playing their first game of rugby bolstered with lads from last years u8s. Pirates were well served by Stephen Girasole, Dylan Meade, Michael McCarthy and Stewart Lynch.
