THE CV DOCTOR – YOUR PASSPORT TO EMPLOYMENT

Unemployment is high that is without question however there are jobs out there that you can apply for and it is very important that you continue to do this and apply for as many opportunities as you can.  Just last week saw Deloitte announced the creation of 200+ jobs, now that is positive news!

The following is a daily/weekly recruitment checklist that you can use to keep your job search on track and ensure you are doing what you need to move forward, I would recommend that you consider using this on a daily/weekly basis and by doing so you should start seeing positive results!

Recruitment Checklist

Contact Details Done
1. Recruitment Websites – these are updated on a very regular basis both by Employers and Recruitment Agencies, you can search by job title and by location and you can also create your own profile very easily on these websites.

www.irishjobs.ie www.lacreme.ie

www.recruitireland.com

www.loadzajobs.ie www.brunel.ie

www.supportingcareers.ie

www.activelink.ie www.premier.ie

www.fas.ie www.hudson.com

2. Daily & Weekly Newspapers – The Irish Examiner no longer has a separate money & jobs section however it still has a money & jobs section in the main body of the paper.  Friday is the day for the jobs with the Irish Examiner.  Here in Cork the Evening Echo continues to advertise vacancies each evening in its Situations Vacant section of the classifieds.  Sunday papers are also advertising each week and I would recommend the appointments sections of both the Sunday Independent and the Sunday Business Post.

I would also recommend checking the ads sections on both of the free weekly Cork newspapers; The Cork Independent and The Cork News.

Check The Evening Echo on a daily basis

Check The Irish Examiner each Friday

Check The Sunday Independent and The Sunday Business Post each week

Check the free Cork newspapers each week; The Cork Independent & The Cork News

3. Radio Recruitment Slots – Our radio stations in Cork are very supportive of job advertisements and most have a weekly Job Section, ensure that you tune in to keep up to date with the latest movement on the job market!

Tune into Red FM, 96FM & C103 FM

4. An updated CV & Cover Letter – now more than ever it is vitally important that you have an updated CV & Cover Letter which accurately describes your skills, qualifications and experience.  We all know how competitive the job market is at the moment and the CV and Cover Letter are your first interaction with a potential future employer, they are so important.  Should you need help to get both of these organised I would be delighted to help you and my contact details are listed for your information.  I run a business called The CV Doctor and I work with clients across the county, with very affordable rates I can help you to get your CV and Cover Letter organised quickly and very professionally.
