Trigon Hotels has announced that it is hosting a charity ball in aid of Cope Foundation and Ability@Work. The gala event will take place at the Cork International Hotel on Friday, October 21st and tickets are on sale now.

Cope Foundation is Trigon Hotels’ charity of choice for 2021 and 2022. The organisation supports over 2,800 children and adults with an intellectual disability and/or autism across Cork city and county to live a life of their choosing.

Trigon Hotels has been partnering with Cope Foundation and its Ability@Work programme over the last two years. Ability@Work provides work preparation training and employment opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities and/or autism. It promotes inclusive workplaces by encouraging Cork employers to open their doors and include everyone.

To date, Trigon Hotels has created sustainable employment for six people through Ability@Work, which has proved to be life changing. The hotel group continued to support the programme through the pandemic and took part in free online training as well as providing conference rooms for socially distanced meetings.

Trigon Hotels is also a member of the Ability@Work Advisory Board Committee and has helped to develop the relationship between the charity and the Irish Hotels Federation.

Aaron Mansworth, Managing Director of Trigon Hotels said: “We are very proud of our collaboration with Ability@Work as it allows us to create job opportunities for people supported by Cope Foundation. We want our hotels to be as diverse and inclusive as possible and having team members of all abilities and backgrounds, who are passionate about their job is central to that. The charity ball is an opportunity to celebrate the successful relationship that has flourished between Trigon Hotels and Cope Foundation in recent years as well as raising much needed funds for the organisation.”

The team from Trigon Hotels has already raised thousands of euro in aid of Cope Foundation, hosting a Car Show and a Spinathon. The funds raised so far have been used to create a Sensory Garden at Cope Foundation in Montenotte. Volunteers from both organisations transformed a patch of unused ground next to Beech Hill Garden Centre into a colourful and calming environment.

Eamon Nash, Chief Operations Officer, Cope Foundation said, “Corporate partnerships are really important to us at Cope Foundation as they provide community inclusion as well as financial support. Since Trigon Hotels opened its doors to Ability@Work it has employed six people supported by Cope Foundation and has facilitated work experience for five more. Not only has the hotel group helped to elevate Ability@Work and helped create a culture of inclusion throughout Cork, Trigon Hotels has improved the lives of the people supported by the programme, boosting their confidence and happiness.”

Emer is supported by Cope Foundation, she said, “Thanks to Cope Foundation’s Ability@Work Programme and Trigon Hotels, I now work with the breakfast team in the Cork International Hotel, I love my job. Everyone is so friendly. I’m really looking forward to the ball in October. It will be great to get dressed up and dance the night away with all my friends.”

Eoghan Murphy, General Manager of the Cork International Hotel added, “The Cope Foundation/Ability@Work Charity Ball promises to be a fantastic event. There will be plenty of music and dancing as well as spot prizes, a charity auction and a raffle. I would like to thank the many local businesses who have generously donated auction items and prizes. It would not be possible to run a charity event like this without their support and the hard work of the teams at Trigon Hotels and Cope Foundation.”

Tickets are €100 per person or €1000 for a table of 10.  For more information or to purchase tickets contact The Cork International Hotel on 021 454 9800 or The Metropole Hotel on 021 4643700.
