Cobh Ramblers kick-off 2022 campaign at home v Wexford on Friday

Storms Dudley and Eunice put paid to the start of Cobh Ramblers’ 2022 SSE Airtricity League First Division campaign last weekend as their trip to Bishopsgate to face Longford Town was postponed due to a frozen surface and I guess from a Ramblers perspective, it couldn’t have worked out better as they now start the league at home on Friday night against Wexford FC.
Wexford who kicked off their campaign with a 5-1 home drubbing by Treaty Utd last weekend will be hoping to bounce back on Friday night when a familiar face and old Ramblers favourite, Goalkeeper Paul Hunt (Hunty) returns to St.Colmans Park between the sticks for ‘The Youths’. Last weekends goalscorer, former Cork City, Derry City, UCD and Reading striker Conor Davis who joined the club in December 2021 wil also be looking to make it two from two.
Cobh Ramblers, Manager Darren Murphy has been busy in the run-up with new signings and re-signings and has introduced some academy players into the fold and has a copule of pre-season wins under his belt. Murphy who was recently quoted as saying ‘We have brought in young talent with a lot of potential and we have brought in some experienced lads also and I always believe you need to have that balance’, also has a Munster Senior Cup semi-final date against Munster Senior League side Rockmount to look forward to and a possible Cup Final day at Turners Cross on 30th May should they overcome the MSL side.
Kick-off against Wexford FC on Friday is 7.45pm and the game is being live-streamed by LOITV at www.loitv.ie
