Back in spring 2019 the album ‘November’ by solo pianist and composer Casey Crosby was honored with a Global Music Award. The album cover picture was taken by Irish photographer and Cobh-local Bernie Carney. The first song on the album titled “Marlogue Wood” is now nominated for a Peace Song Award.

The Peace Song Awards (PSA) is a project division of “Project Peace on Earth”, a Los Angeles-based charity organization by Steve Robertson. Robertson founded “Project Peace on Earth” for the global promotion and attainment of world peace through globally telecasted concerts of scared music from scared sites. All proceeds raised from concerts will fund non-profit organizations, NGOs and other humanitarian organizations working on ending hunger and poverty, providing clean water, curing preventable diseases, elimination of weapons of mass destruction, reverent caring of all living creatures and the like. With a global reach and inspiring mission, the PSA are thought to be the first to hold an annual worldwide search for the most spiritually-inspiring songs, spoken word poetry, sound-healing and music videos promoting messages of peace.

Back in April 2019 the solo piano album “November” by concert pianist and composer Casey Crosby was honored with a silver medal at the Global Music Awards. The first track on the album titled and inspired by the mysterious Marlogue Wood was nominated by the jury panel of the PSA consisting (among others) of Stewart Copeland (Grammy-winner, “The Police”), Peter Yarrow (“Peter, Paul and Mary”), Sean Stone (actor and director), Dennis Kucinich (US Department of Peace) and Joanne Shenandoah (Grammy-winning native American singer/songwriter) for the prestigious award in the category “acoustic contemporary”. Crosby worked on and off for many years in Ireland and was fascinated with the mystical beauty of Marlogue Wood. When looking for a cover picture for his solo piano album “November” he found a picture of Marlogue Wood taken by photographer and Cobh-local Bernie Carney on her Facebook page. On her page was a beautifully written tribute to her deceased dog Ruby. Touched by the words of Carney, Crosby bought the rights to use the picture of Marlogue Wood and another picture of Ruby sitting on a trail in Marlogue Wood as cover, back cover and CD picture. Inspired by the mystic beauty of Marlogue Wood and Carney’s touching tribute to her beloved dog, he wrote the song “Marlogue Wood” and made it the opening track of the award-winning album.

Crosby is thrilled that this song is nominated for PSA award. Being a cat owner and animal lover himself he runs his own animal charity organization, named “The Ruby Fund”. Crosby donates parts of the proceeds of his album sales to animal charity organizations.

The jury panel of the PSA will announce the winners of the jury award on September 21st 2020. Until September 1st it is possible to participate in the public voting for the audience award via Facebook.
