A share of the points was the fairest result in this entertaining game played in Ballincollig. Ramblers opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a very well worked move. Orianna Mc Grath won the ball in the middle of the park and played it to Ciara Duffy out left who switched it right to Jane Allen who laid the perfect pass to last years top goal scorer Elaine Feen and she expertly finished it to the net. However within minutes Ballincollig were level when their left winger lobbed the ball over Linda Mc Namara in the Cobh goal from an acute angle. With 4 mins remaining to halftime, Cobh won a corner kick, Right fullback Mary Mc Donnell floated over a beautiful corner kick which Sinead O’Brien volleyed to the top corner. Ballincollig drew level once again in the 49th min when they scored direct from a free kick on the edge of the penalty area. Both sides raised their games to secure the 3 points with Ballincollig having the slightest edge, but it was Ramblers who came close to scoring when Elaine Feen had a shot off the crossbar. With 3 mins remaining Ballincollig also had an effect off the crossbar and cleared off the goal line, and so it finished level with both sides happy with a hard earned point.
Best for Cobh Ramblers: Orianna Mc Grath, Mary Guilfoyle, Jane Allen.
Cobh Ramblers: Linda Mc Namara, Mary Mc Donnell, Lorna Phelan, Mary Guilfoyle, Sinead O’Brien, Yvonne Harrington, Orianna Mc Grath, Chloe Smith, Ciara Duffy, Jane Allen, Elaine Feen.
Subs: Claire Murphy for Smith(inj), Aoife Braund for Feen.
