Cobh Ramblers FC are pleased to confirm the signing of defender Darryl Walsh from Waterford FC. The 19 year old joins the club having impressed on trial in recent weeks and is capable at either left back or centre back.

Walsh began his football career at his schoolboy club Portlaw United before moving to Tramore AFC. He then progressed to Waterford’s U17. He was a member of the Republic of Ireland U17 squad at the 2017 European Championships in Croatia and he also made his Waterford senior debut that season, as well as helping his club’s U17 side to the Mark Farren Shield. In 2018 he captained the Irish Schools team to Centenary Shield victory whilst remaining a key player for Waterford’s underage sides.

In 2019 he captained the Waterford U19 side that would go on to claim the national league title, before moving on loan to Wexford FC for the latter half of the campaign where he gained regular experience of first team League of Ireland football. Walsh also represented the Irish Colleges and Universities squad alongside fellow Ram David Hurley in France last July.

Speaking about the move Darryl had this to say,

“Everyone has been great so far and very welcoming to me. Pre-season is going well and I can’t wait for the league to get started. With the squad that we have there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be pushing for promotion.”
