BALLYMALOE CRAFT FAIR CELEBRATES TEN YEARS

Published

on

Shanagarry, Co. Cork: Fri 15, Sat 16 & Sun 17 November

Celebrating a decade of championing Irish crafts, produce, makers and designers, the Ballymaloe Craft Fair returns to Ballymaloe Grainstore and the Big Shed in Shanagarry, East Cork. It is an extra special year for organisers as they mark the tenth anniversary by presenting an event that promises to be bigger and more impressive than ever before.

Kicking off on Friday 15 November from 6pm to 9pm and running on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 from 10am to 6pm, the Ballymaloe Craft Fair is a  Christmas shopper’s paradise. Over 150 stalls from all corners of Ireland will offer an impressive array of textiles, glassware, woodwork, jewellery, leather goods, children’s gifts, and much more.

An expanded Food Emporium will offer edibles from artisan producers of cheese, smoked fish, craft beers, jams and other gourmet goodies. Delicious Ballymaloe accompaniments that put the perfect finishing touches on any festive feast will be available.

There’s plenty to keep families happily entertained. There will be live music in the Big Shed, a children’s book launch, a children’s play area, and crafts people making candles, chocolate, iron work, and other demonstrations.

As always, delicious drinks and meals will be served by local food heroes in the Shed where there is plenty of seating. Both the Shed and Ballymaloe Grainstore are comfortably heated and protected from the elements.

Rory Allen, founder of the Ballymaloe Craft Fair and the man who developed the previously derelict Ballymaloe Grainstore, said:

“It’s a major milestone for us to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Craft Fair this year. We get a great sense of pride knowing that it’s a real calendar highlight for many people. The event brings visitors from all over the country to Ballymaloe Grainstore, so we work harder and harder each year to ensure they’re suitably impressed by what we and our stallholders have to offer.

On a practical level, the Ballymaloe Craft Fair is the perfect place to do your Christmas shopping and support Irish artisans in the process. And it’s a chance to get lost in the magic of the festive season for the day!”

Entry to Ballymaloe Craft Fair is €5, with children under 12 free.  Parking is free. To find out more visit www.ballymaloegainstore.com.  Follow the conversation on Facebook @thegrainstore, Instagram @ballymaloe_grainstore, Twitter @thegrainstore.
