Tourism businesses across South and West Cork are being invited to apply for various courses as part of the Tourism Towns Skills Programme. The programme is being coordinated by the SECAD Partnership and many courses will start in late September and run for the next two years. One of these courses is looking at how small businesses can help to develop their local food menus.

Tourism training workshops will be held in key tourism towns and hubs in West and South Cork, starting in September and running throughout the year. Managed by SECAD and supported by the LEADER programme, the courses are on offer for as little as €10 per person. Participants can sign up for the half or full day courses in a variety of specialities.

Ryan Howard from SECAD said: “We are so excited to be running these fantastic courses this year and next. South and West Cork has a great reputation for food, unspoilt scenery in addition to a number of key attractions for visitors to the areas. Entrepreneurs and businesses in West Cork have an enormous opportunity to avail of free, targeted and tailored training through the Tourism Town Skills programme.”

The courses include:

·         The Development of Local Food Menus

·         Customer Service

·         Public Relations

·         Digital Marketing

The Programme will run in South Cork in Youghal, Midleton, Cobh, Carrigaline and Ballincollig while in West Cork the programme will run in Kinsale, Clonakilty, Rosscarbery and Skibbereen.

Mary Daly of the Food Safety Company is running the Customer Service and Development of Local Food Menu courses, Stephen Ryan will run the PR courses while the Digital Marketing courses will be run by Sandra Hennessy of Be Dynamic.

The half day workshops costs just €10 and the full day workshops are €20. Details are available here: https://www.eventbrite.ie/d/ireland–cork/secad/ or visit: www.secad.ie
