“Carols by Candlelight” with The Carrigaline Choral Group

Christmas is here again and the staff at Fota House are busy putting up and decorating Christmas trees for its annual Carol Concerts.   A firm favourite Christmas event for the last five years, demand for tickets is extremely heavy.   The Concert on Sunday 6th December is already fully booked but some tickets are still available for Tuesday, 8th December.

This year’s Concert will be given by “The Carrigaline Choral Group” who formed at the beginning of September 2009 as a mixed choir of thirty singers.

Their Musical Director, Jenny Judge is a fourth-year BMus student in the Cork School of Music where she studies conducting with Alan Cutts and classical piano with Jan Cap.  She has been active as a conductor and accompanist in Cork since her school days and has conducted choirs in Feis Maitiu, the Cork Choral Festival and the Limerick Church Music Festival.   Chairperson and soloist Dan Twomey and Secretary Mary Malone look forward to entertaining Christmas audiences with a traditional programme of much loved Christmas Carols.

The Choir will be supported by The Eden Singers, a Cork based Chamber Group who perform Sacred, Secular and Original choral works from all eras and specialize in a capella singing.   They have a wide repertoire and are due to perform at various concerts around Cork city and County before Christmas.

The programme also includes some music from MacTire, an instrumental and vocal group from Kinsale who bring a fresh, new approach to Irish music

As in former years, Wine and Mince pies will be served at the Interval.
