Capital Sports Grant allows major upgrade at Rushbrooke Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club

Cobh Edition this week visited Rushbrooke Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club and met up with Club Chairman and current Munster Branch Tennis President Eddie Ronayne.
Walking around the fantastic grounds of RLTCC it is very easy to see the recent and on going upgrades that are giving the club a superb new look.

Eddie explained that due to the successful application for a capital sports grant they are now able to upgrade the facilities and have the grounds looking their best for the clubs 150th anniversary in 2020 which will be an exciting time with lots of events to be announced soon.
The current committee are working very hard to provide the best of standards to the members and the hard work certainly looks to be paying dividends.
Some of the upgrades completed recently include the court lighting system, upgraded on all of the nine courts, perimeter fencing, also extending and upgrading the Croquet Lawns and which are now championship size. As we walked around work had just begun on replacing 6 of the tennis courts and rejuvenating 2 others and these works will be completed in about two weeks.

Entry is now open for one of the biggest tournaments in Munster with the South of Ireland Omni Court Championships taking place over the Easter Weekend. This event attracts the top players from around Munster to Rushbrooke in what is always a action packed tournament and is free to spectators all weekend.
Finally Eddie told us that membership numbers are rising with many new members joining recently and that club membership is always open and everyone is welcome to get in touch and come out and view the facilities at any time.

Cobh Edition would like to thank Eddie for the invitation to see the fantastic progress being made and it certainly is exciting times ahead for Rushbrooke Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club.
