Under 11 Premier League
Springfield Ramblers 1 Corinthian Boys 1
The Springfield Ramblers Under 11 side concluded a very successful season with this draw away to Corinthians Boys in the final game of a Premier League campaign that was decided on the very last day. Calvin Carroll scored the goal which was his third in as many games. The whole squad were superb throughout what was their first season in competitive football, finishing runners-up in the Premier League and reaching the semi-final in the Cup competition. Well done to all the players and to the coaches.
Under 13 Premier League
Springfield Ramblers 2 Carrigaline United 0
Under 15 Premier League
Fermoy 0 Springfield Ramblers 4
Springfield Ramblers completely dominated this Under 15 Premier League tie at Carrig Park. This squad has been together for several seasons now and the quality of the football played by them in this game was evidence of a side that has matured together. Chances were created from the off in the game as the midfield four of Adam Thompson, Dave Curran, Tony O’Donovan & Gavin Lynch ably supported by full backs Dale Fitzgerald & Paul Ronan sprayed the passes about, supplying plenty of possession for front men Dave Cahill & Daniel Santry.
The first goal came from a Dave Curran corner when the ball broke to Gavin Lynch and he finished expertly to the corner. The second goal came again from a corner, the ball being cleared by the Fermoy defence was sent back in and centre back John Flanagan who had stayed in the penalty area killed it with a deft first touch and then delivered a perfect strike to score his first goal for the team. Tony O’Donovan had been unlucky up this point with several headers either hitting the woodwork, being saved or going narrowly wide. His luck changed when he met a free kick from the right and this time powered the header home for the third goal.
In the second half the away side continued to dominate and the fourth goal came when Dave Cahill receiving possession on the right went on a run and crossed to the far post where Daniel Santry was waiting to finish to the net. Such was the dominance of the Springfield Ramblers side that centre backs John Flanagan & Brendán Frahill and goalkeeper Shane Hallahan were spectators for long periods. When substitutes Jason Abbott, Marc Wyatt & Ian Murphy came on the transition was seamless and the team saw out the rest of the game comfortably.
