After finishing runners-up to Cork City in the Cork Youth Premier League, reaching the Munster Quarter Finals and being unbeaten away in the League throughout the entire season, the Cobh Ramblers U18 squad took time out last night to hold their ‘Annual Awards Night’ at the Cobh Ramblers Clubhouse. It was a very well organised and well attended night with four awards up for grabs, namely, Top Goalscorer, Most Improved Player, Most Valuable Player and Player Of The Season.
In the lead-up to the awards the audience were treated to a cracking projector display of Ramblers U18 team action shots taken during the season by John Forrest (Snr) and this lead the way for U18 Manager Dan Wyatt to get proceedings underway. Also joining Dan were the two other members of the Management Team, Willie O’Hanlon and Jake McQueen. All three had very positive things to say about the team as a whole and pointed out some individuals for special mention. ”So many of you guys here have exceptional talent” said Dan Wyatt ”and you certainly make our job so much easier. Certainly without doubt it makes Dave Hill’s job alot easier as our ultimate aim here is to push you guys through to Senior Football within Cobh Ramblers” he added. Jake McQueen and Willie O’Hanlon echoed Dan Wyatt’s comments with Willie expressing his desire to bring the best out of the goalkeepers.
The four awards up for grabs were announced as follows:
Top Goalscorer: Jame Murphy
Most Improved Player: Shane Geasley
Most Valuable Player: Gary Collins
Player Of The Season: John Forrest
