Two great events coming up in August organised by Cobh Tidy Towns. Firstly for National Heritage Week we have planned some “Mini Beasty Hunts”.
Join Niamh O’Flynn, an Animal Scientist and Wildlife Educator, on a guided bug hunt and nature walk at Marlogue Woods. She will tell you stories about what a bug is, show you where bugs live ,how to catch them, what they eat, identify the bugs from each other (different shapes and sizes, how many legs, wings, soft or hard shells, etc.) and release the bugs back safely into the woods. She will show you the native flora and fauna within the different habitats of the woods.Free event. Booking essential as limited numbers. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Bug Hunt 1 at 2pm and Bug Hunt 2 at 3.30pm on Saturday 18th August. Email cobhtidytowns@gmail.com or phone Ruth on 0860580606
We are also delighted to announce that as part of Cobh People’s Regatta we have organised a Free Family Seashore Walk with Cobh’s bird & wildlife expert ,Jim Wilson, on Cuskinny Beach at 4 pm on Sunday 19th August. The meeting point will be the car park. No equipment is necessary but please wear appropriate footwear for low tide conditions. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the fantastic wildlife living on our shore.
