In January 2018, a small steering group was established by a number of sailors from Cobh with the ambition to establish a new club to organise sailing in Cobh.

The new club would be called Great Island Sailing Club, or officially Cobh Dinghy Club CLG t/a Great Island Sailing Club.

One of our key priorities is to ensure the continued operation of the youth dinghy sailing from the dinghy park at Whitepoint.
We have an exciting programme of events and activities, including an extensive cruiser racing programme, learn to sail sessions for children and teenagers every Saturday from May to September and a social kayaking group for adults. The club is primarily based out of the Whitepoint Dinghy Park, a facility provided by Cork County Council, which has changing facilities and boat / kayak storage. All the learn to sail programmes are accredited by Irish Sailing, the governing body for sailing in Ireland. All tuition is delivered by fully qualified sailing instructors.

We are holding our Dinghy Sailing Registration Day on Sunday April 15th at 10am to 12pm.

We will be taking bookings for our Saturday sailing which commences on Saturday 5th May and continues for 18 weeks. The sessions are divided into two terms of 9 weeks, costing €90 per term or €170 for both terms. Discounts available with two or more children joining from the same family.
