Cobh Tidy Towns caring for our coast
It’s was Clean Coasts Bigbeachclean weekend last weekend. Cobh Tidy Towns volunteers played their part in keeping our coasts clean and protecting marine life by removing 52 bags of litter washed up on our island beaches at Carrigaloe, Whitepoint and Connolly Street. Amazing work by a very determined group. Dominant litter items were single use plastic bottles , plastic wrappers , aluminium cans and baby wipes. Please recycle your plastics and cans and think before you flush. Toilets are not the place for baby wipes ,face wipes or cotton buds. Marlogue beach was cleaned by Clean Coast Cobh volunteers.
On Sunday Ruth & Catherine did the first Coastwatch Autumn Survey 2017 at beautiful Cuskinny. All of Great Island can be surveyed in 500m sections until 15th October. Get in touch if you are interested in joining in. Many hands make light work ! Look at http://coastwatch.org/europe/survey/for further information.
