MATCH PREVIEW: Cobh Ramblers v Wexford

Published

on

Cobh Ramblers will be aiming to go into the mid season break on a high and more importantly, keep the pressure on league leaders Waterford on Friday night.

Stephen Henderson’s side welcome Wexford to St Colman’s Park following last week’s scoreless draw with the league leaders.

And despite Friday’s visitors currently sitting at the bottom of the table, Henderson is taking absolutely nothing for granted.

“I’ve seen Wexford a few times, and they can play well. They’re a big strong physical side. They have a way of playing that can be difficult. But if we play the way we’re playing at the moment I think we’ll be ok.”

Ramblers go into Friday’s game on a good run of form, winning four of their last six. And Henderson says it’s a testament to the work his players are putting in.

“I keep saying it – you can’t buy what we have here. Our lads worked their hearts out against Waterford. The fact we’re disappointed we didn’t beat them shows how far we’ve come.

“If we had won last week we could have gone top. So to be right in it, coming up to the break, I just can’t compliment my players enough. We’ve worked hard, and we have some fine young players that are coming to the fore. Ireland under 21 boss Noel King was at our match last week, which speaks volumes to what these young lads are doing and what Cobh Ramblers are doing.”

On the injury front, Karl Caulfield remains absent but is close to a return, however Friday’s game comes just a bit too soon for the former Avondale United man. Cian Kingston remains out with an ankle injury.
