Springfield Ramblers A 7-1 Everton A
A great start to the St Patrick’s day celebrations began when a capacity crowd turned out at the JMM park to witness a fine footballing spectacle.
The lads took less than 5 mins to register the first score and continued to dominate possession and territory for the rest of the half. Everton struggled to live with the fast flowing football which was very easy on the eye…full backs overlapping wingers….midfielders and strikers interplay all led to a 5-0 score line at half time. This included the goal of the game from the man of the match Dylan ” Dynamo” Histon which saw him hit a screamer from the edge of the box which nestled in the top corner.
Our rotation policy saw all 16 players get equal game time and and the final score line of 9-1 showed the strength in dept.
A special thanks to Sorrento’s who continue to sponsor the man of the match award.
On the Rams…

DENNEHYS HEALTH & FITNESS U15 DIVISION 3
Crosshaven 1-2 Springfield Ramblers A
Springers continued on their winning ways with a great win over a very big and physical Crosshaven side. They came out of the blocks all guns blazing and dominated Crosshaven all over the pitch putting them under pressure whenever they got the ball. They deservedly took the lead from a Jamie Kelly wonder goal who struck a great ball from the centre circle into the top corner giving the keeper no chance. Crossshaven came into the game a bit more and Adam Stanton in goal pulled off some great one on one saves. Springers should have another two goals Kelly again in midfield was pulling the strings but had too be replaced after a heavy challenge. When he came off Keelan Ryan stepped up and controlled the midfield with a solid performance. Springers go the second from Alex Mc Carthy who from a corner with his back to goal hooked the ball over his head into the top corner. Crosshaven put Springers under pressure with some long balls up the pitch but couldn’t get past a solid defence and Stanton who was outstanding in goals. They got a consolation goal in added time but it really was Springers who played good football on a bad pitch.

ORIEL HOUSE HOTEL ROY KEANE U13 PREMIER
Springfield Ramblers 1-1 Lakewood Athletic
Springfield started the game the brighter and it was rewarded by an early goal from Eoin Cullimore whose free kick was delivered expertly. Lakewood who are pushing for the league came into the game more but we created some good chances on the counter attack. 2 fine saves from Lakewood’s keeper kept them in the game. We conceded 10 mins before halftime.
Second half both teams went for the win. Both teams defence were on their game and Springfield were well marshalled by man of the match Sean Cummins.
A great team effort by the lads. Well done to all.

GARY COMERFORD U15 PREMIER
Springfield Ramblers 0-2 Ringmahon Rangers
A bad result today for the under 15 team with a 0 – 2 loss to Ringmahon Rangers. A win today would have put us ahead of the opposition in the league and into 4th place. Unfortunately it was not to be. The game started at a high tempo with both teams competing for every ball.
The opening goal came against the run of play after 21mins. An opportunist strike with the keeper off the line saw Ringmahon take the lead.
The remainder of the half saw Springfield Ramblers strive hard for the equalizer with the team effort being tremendous. Alas it was not to be.
Lewis Whelan came off the bench after 25mins for Evan O’Leary and almost made an immediate impact. After receiving the ball from a Sam McSweeney throw in, he turned the defender unfortunately his shot went just wide of the post.
We started the second half brightly again dominating the play with attack after attack but the Ringmahon defence held firm. Evan O’Leary came back on up front for Dara O’Connell.
Again some great play saw us put the Ringmahon defence under pressure which lead to them conceding free kick after free kick which eventually lead to one of the Ringmahon players being sent off with 17 mins of the 2nd half gone. Dara O’Connell came back on for Eoin Kelly after 20 mins of the 2nd half. Dara going upfront with Evan O’Leary moving to right of midfield. However, Dara had to be replaced again within 5mins of coming on after a knock to the head. Eoin Kelly came back on at right midfield with Evan O’Leary going up front.
A change of format saw us go to a 3-4-3 with Mikey Foley joining the attack. The play was all Springfield Ramblers at this stage however we could still not get the goal back. However with 5mins to go we conceded the killer 2nd goal. A lack of communication saw two defenders going for the same ball and taking each other out leaving two Ringmahon forwards with a 2 v 1 with keeper Jamie Bates. The Ringmahon forward drew Jamie out to the right of the goal and then squared it to the other forward who slotted the ball into the empty net to finish the contest.
Mikey Foley came close to getting one back with a diving header from an Eoin Kelly cross but the ball just flashed past the post.
However, overall it was a good fighting performance that will set us up nicely for our trip to Spain on Wednesday to play in the Copa Costa Brava.

BLACKWATER MOTORS U12 PREMIER
Springfield Ramblers 1-2 Carrigaline United
This was a much improved effort from the young Under 12 side who have had a tough season so far. They went up against a strong Carrigaline side but they battled from the start. The back four were solid throughout the game with Jamie setting an example in the centre. The team let in an unfortunate goal but they kept powering forward with Colin, Mia and Joe dominating in the middle of the pitch. Luka continued this effort with some suburb crosses from the left and Luke was unlucky not to get on the end of one of them. Despite being 1-0 down the team came out fighting in the second half with Danny and Adam spurring on the team by putting great pressure on the away side. Jae continued this effort with some fantastic tackles that added a much needed toughness to the young side. Carrigaline made some great efforts at goal which were saved by Cormac but the pressure got the better of the Springers side and they conceded another goal. Ryan, Neil and Jonah brought new life to the side when they came on which resulted in great goal by at the end of the game, scored by Danny. The team deserved to draw this game if not win it but their attitude and team spirit shows that great things are ahead for the team. Best on the day; Jamie, Luke, Luka & Ryan.

A match full of incidents that saw Cobh power to an impressive win. After taking a deserved early lead Cobh found themselves trailing at the break 1-2. Second half saw an early equaliser and the team’s belief grew to grasp the points with three more quality goals. Goals by Luke Quinn (2) Oisin Cronin & Jamie Gilmartin. Avondale next up.
