Springfield Ramblers B 3 – 3 Greenwood A
Never was the cliché, a game of two halves more true than it was for this match. After picking up 9 out of 9 points in the last three games confidence was high going into to this game. Greenwood had only lost twice so a tough challenge was expected, but the lads went straight at them and caused them a lot of problems, forcing a lot of corners and had several near misses including a Rhys Whelham header off the post before eventually taking the lead when a well struck free kick from the right touchline by Marc Jones flew over the keeper and into the net. Springfield kept up the pressure and again scored when a Shane Kelsal free kick from the half way line was knocked down by Marc Jones to Darragh Heelen who calmly picked his spot to give the keeper no chance. It was Darragh who again scored just on half time after combining well with Adam Hayes to give Springfield a 3-0 lead.

And then to the second half. The energy and skill levels of the first half were never repeated in the second and slowly Greenwood worked their way back into the game. A sloppy goal after ten minutes gave them hope and they again scored when a defensive mix-up left them score into an open goal. With five minutes left Springfield failed to clear a corner and Greenwood were level and got the draw which seemed so unlikely at half time. Despite the disappointment of not getting all three points the lads have to be given credit for picking up 10 out of 12 points recently.
Fine performances on the day by Rhys Welham and Josh Kelly with Man of the Match going to Darragh Heelen who finally found his scoring touch after being so threatening it recent games.

Also the coaches and teammates of Sean Butler would like to congratulate him on his recent success in Munster and reaching the 1/4finals of the All-Ireland boxing championships.

U14 Local Cup
Springfield Ramblers 0 Corinthians 3
The scoreline does not reflect what was very competitive match between these two sides. It was 0-0 at half time. We conceded 10 mins into the second half. Springfield pushed on causing Corinthians defence all sorts of problems. Then came the turning point in the game when Corinthians were awarded a penalty for a hand ball (referee deemed the players hand to be in an unnatural position). 0-2 down and the heads still did not drop. We had 2 really good chances in last 10 mins but unfortunately we didn’t take either. We conceded in the last kick of the game. The lads can be very proud of their performance. We just didn’t get the rub of the green.

U11 Local Cup
Springfield Ramblers 2-3 Corinthian Boys on pens (2-2 aet)
Springfield Ramblers were unlucky to lose this game on penalties after a great team performance. The teams progression can be seen with a great team performance. Going a goal behind the fought back to equalise when Colin scored with a great header from the edge of the box from Danny’s cross. Springfield Ramblers took the lead when Adam L scored direct from a corner. They held this lead until midway through the second half when Corthinians equalised. Despite playing excellent football Springfield Ramblers were unlucky not to get a winner. As with the lottery of penalties the home team were unlucky to lose a very entertaining game. Best on the night: Adam L, Colin, Jamie, Jae and Luke
