Minor Hurling League Vs Castlelyons
Wednesday 1st April

Our first hurling game of the season started in Castlelyons favour playing down the hill and a rusty start by our lads saw us leak a couple of goals that we wouldn’t normally let in, but in fairness to the Cobh lads we responded in kind each time with goals from Odhran Kidney Power and Ciaran Leahy fed from midfield and half forwards Niall Spriggs Aaron Dolan and Adam O Donovan with a couple of very intelligent passes from Keith Donnachie. Was it not for a few wayward passes and shots the half time score would most definitely be in our favour, instead we were down by two points on a score of 2.06 to 2.04.

2nd half was all Cobh with solid defending by Jeff Mc Carthy and Cillian Histon conceding just 3 points in the 2nd half, a couple of good stops and fantastic puck outs by John Gardner enabled our forwards to take the game to our opponents. Our half back line led by captain Dave O Connor of liam O Keeffe and Pádi Kearney stifled any chances our hosts had of running at us and really the only hindrances we had in the 2nd half were some horrific decisions by the referee and his insistence we finish the match in the dark. Our two subs used were Nikolai Wilke and Dominic Roche who contributed very well to the final tally of Cobh 6.08 to 2.09. Well done lads!

Our next game is home to Whitescross Thurs 9th at 6.45 in main pitch
