Cobh Wanderers Seniors Clinch Promotion with four to go
Congratulations to the Cobh Wanderers Senior team who, after having a blaze of season, secured promotion to the Munster Senior League First Division after just one season back in football.
The ‘clincher’ came after a great 2-4 win away to second from bottom Tramore Athletic on Sunday 22nd March………….and there are still four league games to be played!!!
There’s no doubt now that Wanderers have an eye on the silverware, and a maximum of four points out of a possible twelve will secure that for them. With two games in hand on second-placed Passage who sit on 32 points and who can only reach a total of 38, the silverware is a definite reality should Wanderers take in the four points required to secure the title. Of course winning all four remaining games will bring them to 47 points.
Wanderers have four remaining games and they are against, Kinsale, Ballinhassig, Youghal and the last game of the season will be again Glassheen at Old Church Park.
It could however be all wrapped up this weekend though if Passage fail to beat Youghal and Wanderers secure a point from their game away to Kinsale on Saturday afternoon.
