Springfield Ramblers Match Reports 7/8th March

A finely balanced cup tie that went right to the final minute. First half Leeside had the better possession but SR sharp counter attack in 20min saw Jamie Gilmartin shrug off two defenders to score ! Five minutes later after patient build up Leeside broke through to equalise 1-1.

With ten minutes to go to half time a soft free kick angled in the high wind cruelly beat our defensive line and deceived everyone into the goal 2-1 to the home team. A couple of positional changes and fresh legs in the second half saw SR dominate and if not for a terrific save by Leeside keeper denying Corey
Griffin’s 20 metre strike to the top corner a neutral would have fancied SR to take victory.

All 13 worthy of applause Sean, Shane, Kealan, Sam, Killian, Con, Josh, Oisin, Jamie, Conor, Corey, Anthony and Aaron.

A glorious exit that did the themselves and The Club proud …. Well done.

A poor performance with little plus to be fair, Cobh never got started and a deserved win by Mallow. Thanks to all the parents who travelled.
