Nobody likes updates like this one. Unfortunately the days of Cobh Tidy Towns volunteers spending time on town enhancing projects have become numbered as we battle against the increase in the volume of litter being dropped around town. On Saturday morning with just 5 volunteers a huge amount of fast food litter, discarded bottles & cans, confectionary papers, coffee cups and soft drink containers were gathered everywhere – Whitepoint , Bishop Street, Carrignafoy, Top of the Hill, the Ro,Ballywilliam and the Cathedral Carpark. *To the bush drinkers – take your bottles home in the bags you bring them it .* To the school students who purchase food at lunchtime and congregate in the Cathedral Carpark – have some pride in your town and bin your litter. * To the night revellers- after your night out and post booze feast please don’t dump your wrappers on the streets.
To the car drivers and passengers who pull up in the Five foot way – rolling down your window and dumping your fast food litter on the ground is a fine waiting to happen. * A plea to all to bin your litter or take it home and have some PRIDE in your town.
Thanks to Market House for the complimentary cakes for our volunteers this morning. Much appreciated with the cuppa after a cold mornings work . We’re out every Saturday morning at 10am by the playground in Whitepoint and you are more than welcome to join us.
