The Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD, recently launched in Brussels a new book entitled “Ireland and Belgium – Past Connections & Continuing Ties” published by the Irish Embassy and co-edited by the Ambassador, H.E. Éamonn MacAodha. In a series of contributions from specialist authors, the book traces the cultural, political and economic links between the two countries over the centuries up to the present time, including the story of the Cobh Carillon in an article by Adrian Gebruers entitled “How the Flemish Carillon Acquired an Irish Voice”. This 230-page book is currently only available in hardback but there are plans to have excerpts available online in due course.
